CU Energy Initiative/NREL Symposium

In order to encourage innovative, collaborative research on Renewable and Sustainable Energy (R&SE), the University of Colorado and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) co-sponsored a Research Symposium.

The Research Symposium was held on Tuesday, October 3rd at the University Memorial Center on the Boulder Campus.

The main activity for the Symposium was a poster session in which individual faculty and scientists, together with members of their research groups, displayed their ongoing and proposed research projects related to R&SE and, more importantly, found out what other types of research interests and expertise exist at NREL and on the CU Campuses. Posters on ALL aspects of R&SE were encouraged including:

         • natural sciences and engineering
         • business opportunities, technology transfer and commercialization
         • policy and legislative dimensions
         • social, cultural and/or philosophical dimensions
         • economic aspects

The University and NREL have committed $700,000 to a Seed Grant Competition for awards up to $50,000.  Proposals are due on December 1st. Only Researchers who were (Co-) Authors on poster presentations at the Research Symposium may apply for seed grant funding.
